- After graduating from Oxford University with a BA in Biological Sciences and a MSt in Social Anthropology, Hsin-Yi tried her hand at a variety of jobs including advertising, modelling, teaching English and dog training… before returning to her first love: writing. She worked as a freelance writer for several years and has won awards for her poetry, short stories and journalism.
Hsin-Yi was born in Taiwan and has been a globe-trotter all her life—living in a variety of cultures, from Dubai to Auckland, London to New Jersey—but is now happily settled in Perth, Western Australia, with her husband and a rescue kitty named Muesli. She loves gardening, has a morbid fear of cockroaches and adds chili to everything she eats!

Hanna & the sixth book in her new English Cottage Garden Series. 7-hours 12-minutes/246-pages of an enjoyable cozy mystery. Cozy Mystery/romance, captivating primary character, what other blurbs can I use to describe these books? It's Christmas. Devlin has left to spend Christmas with his mother. He has given instructions for Gemma not to find any murdered bodies!
Gemma has been asked to supply goodies for a party to benefit poor children at the Morecombe family estate. This Morecombe family is very dysfunctional and when the long lost son/brother Ned comes home crashing the benefit party, the family gets even more dysfunctional.
A snow storm hits that evening making Gemma and the Old Biddies to spend the evening. In the wee hours of the morning Gemma finds Ned smothered in the library. The murderer has to be one of the family. The patriarch asks Gemma to question everyone until the storm lets up and the police can arrive.
Since Devlin is on holiday, Pratt is head detective. Gemma has no confidence in this man. He even accuses Gemma as the guilty party!

The setting, the characters, and the dialogue are a most delectable blend in a cozy mystery. The investigation inquiries lead to a closer look at student relationships and sprinkled throughout the storyline are interesting facts about the architecture of campus buildings and student life. The character relationships bubble with joy from family to friends to customers, including the effervescent foursome of Mabel Cooke, Glenda Bailey, Florence Doyle, and Ethel Webb, shortened affectionately as the "Old Biddies" by Gemma and Cassie. There's also a mischievous and paw-some little sleuth named Muesli, knowing the difference between the purr-fect time to quietly slip a harness or speak up with loud, persistent meows. Oh, and if you love online shopping, I can't wait until you read about the purchases by Gemma's mother!
I highly recommend you set aside time to enjoy a nice cup of tea with some cozy mystery fun!
