Looking forward to it! I have a couple of BFBs I'm inching my way through and a few on audio I want to get to before they are no longer available as included on Audible. But the weather is cool and sunny and the garden calls for some zhuzhing after the winter (still too early to plant here in N. NJ as we're still under frost warnings), so I'll probably be a split personality this weekend. I look forward to seeing what others are reading!

I'm in again - currently reading More Than Human by Theodore Sturgeon. I had total knee replacement surgery yesterday, so I've little to interfere with reading for awhile, other than doing my Physical Therapy.

I'll be in when I'm not working outside. I want to follow Starter Villain with Assistant to the Villain or some of the slim books I put aside for April.

Weekend Start-up
Books read from: Book of Form and Emptiness by Ruth Ozeki. World on Fire: How Exporting Free Market Democracy Breeds Ethnic Hatred and Global Instability by Amy Chua. Three Ways to Capsize a Boat: An Optimist Afloat by Chris Stewart. I am listening to Jell-o Girls: A Family History by Allie Rowbottom.

Books finished: Sandcastle Girls by Chris Bohjalian

Book Thoughts: I had an Inter-Library Loan request come in and so I took some time out from the heavier reading to read it. It will be an easy read at 180 pages. It is also mind candy because it is a travel memoir that is full of adventure and lightheartedness. I am enjoying it.

Non-Book activities: I packed boxes and boxes of books this last week. Tomorrow I am going to knit all day long and visit a friend. I will have to purchase more boxes and so will do that on Sunday. Then it will be back to packing books for a couple of days. I haven't even touched the cookbook collection. I talked to my sister for two hours today and will take time out to go for supper with friends tonight.

Sunday afternoon report
Books read from: Book of Form and Emptiness by Ruth Ozeki. World on Fire: How Exporting Free Market Democracy Breeds Ethnic Hatred and Global Instability by Amy Chua. Three Ways to Capsize a Boat: An Optimist Afloat by Chris Stewart. I am listening to Jell-o Girls: A Family History by Allie Rowbottom.

Books finished: Sandcastle Girls by Chris Bohjalian. Three Ways to Capsize a Boat: An Optimist Afloat by Christ Stewart

Book Thoughts: I read Three Ways to Capsize a Boat in two days and enjoyed every minute spent reading it. It was just my kind of mind candy entertainment. The author has a very witty way of writing that keeps you laughing but he also provides lots and lots of information that is serious but also gives mundane details that are interesting. The book is a memoir of his first encounters with sailing. He ended up spending the summer as the skipper of a small yacht in the Greek Islands. The next year he signs on as a crew member of a larger yacht that makes a trans-Atlantic crossing using the northern Viking route. He travels from the Cornish Coast to Vineland by way of Norway and Iceland. Reading this was just mind candy for me. I had so much fun reading it.

Non-Book activities: I knitted at the yarn shop and celebrated Local Yarn Shop Day with the ladies and knitted more on my sweater. I am inching closer to having it done. I am going to be online less this coming week than in the past because I have run out of broadband bytes. All those Zoom meetings planning the 50 year high school class reunion has run up the bill.

Food: my usual Sunday lunch at the Indian restaurant and now I am at my local Starbucks, which has reopened after being closed for 40 days to remodel. They still haven't done anything about the excessively cool temperature of the building. I guess some things never get fixed.

Weekend wrap-up
Books read from: Book of Form and Emptiness by Ruth Ozeki. World on Fire: How Exporting Free Market Democracy Breeds Ethnic Hatred and Global Instability by Amy Chua. Witchshadow by Susan Dennard. I finished listening to Jell-o Girls: A Family History by Allie Rowbottom and started She Rides Shotgun by Jordan Harper.

Books finished: Sandcastle Girls by Chris Bohjalian. Three Ways to Capsize a Boat: An Optimist Afloat by Christ Stewart. Jell-o Girls: A Family History by Allie Rowbottom.

Book Thoughts: I finished listening to Jello Girls by Allie Rowbottom and thought this was an OK memoir of a daughter taking care of her mother. The author's mother and grandmother both died from hormone driven cancers and both were heiress to the Jello fortune. The legacy of Jello is intertwined with the cancer legacy. The author narrated her own book and she did a fair job, however, the cd's were corrupted and the last three or four tracks on each CD was not listenable. I had to go back to the library and get the book so that I could read the parts that the CD was skipping. That sort of thing tends to ruin your listening experience.

Non-Book activities: I had computer problems this weekend and that put a damper on my weekend plans for Sunday. It took our IT people 2 1/2 hours to get my laptop to let me into my e-mail again.

Time reading today: 1 hour
Time reading this weekend - 5 hours
