I did like this book, and it was hard to put down. That said, misunderstandings propelled much of the plot, and the characters didn't feel as human as I would have liked. ( )

Perhaps my favorite YA book of all time. Adorable heroine, fun storyline, great characters, smart writing, OED references, Étienne St. Clair, PARIS... what's not to love? Really, go read it for yourself! I will be selling this book like crazy. L O V E D it! ( )

I have had this book on my e-reader for a few months, and with a push from a friend I finally started reading it at 2:00 p.m. today! From the very first page I couldn't stop reading. Anna and the French Kiss is sorta your typical YA romance, but with so much more.
We start off meeting Anna as her parents are dropping her off at a boarding school in Paris. Her dorm neighbor Meredith (Mer) comes in shortly after her parents leave, and while I have never been to a boarding school, i don't think that friendships are really formed as fast as these two formed a friendship. I did like the interaction with Etienne St. Clair from the beginning and I must say, he does make for one swoon worthy character. He is nice to Anna from the beginning, as are most of Mer's friends from the previous year.
We do run into a few snags along the way... Anna starts to like St. Clair, as he is called by his friends, and in turn we start to see St. Clair fall for Anna...but he's with Ellie, and has been for over a year now. And we can't forget Anna's almost but not quite boyfriend Toph!! So, where does that leave our to budding lovers?
The story progresses with some twists and turns that I wasn't expecting and I was so glad to see that most of them were resolved. Stephanie could easily make this into a series of books, but alas we are all left to dream about what really happens with Anna and St. Clair after the story ends.

While I am an AVID reader of YA, I tend to steer clear of the romances, Stephanie is a wonderful writer and while this is mainly a romance, you do get to see a lot of Paris through Anna's eyes, and we meet some great additional characters in Rashmi, Meredith, St. Clair and even Josh. There are always the bad characters, you know the ones I am talking about, that you know are going to make trouble every time they are mentioned, and we get that with Amanda and Dave. But thankfully those two are handled in the book. Overall I really enjoyed the book ( seeing as i finished it in 7 hours!) and i will more than likely come back to it again and again when I am in the mood for a fluffy read. ( )

4.5 stars! Anna has been sent from Atlanta to Paris by her somewhat pretentious author father to attend school there her senior year. She is not happy about this at all - she doesn't want to leave her best friend and she also has an almost-blossoming-something going on with a guy at the movie theater where she works that she would rather stay home and explore. However, go to Paris she must. Once there, she makes friends with a cast of likable characters, including a good-looking, British-sounding young man named Etienne St. Clair. He happens to have a girlfriend we rarely see, as she finished school the year before and sort of dumped all her friends when she moved off-campus. St. Clair and his girlfriend seem to be on rocky ground. Anna and Toph (the boy back home) - well, aside from what goes on in her head and some back and forth email between them, we don't really know what they are and when Anna goes home for Christmas, she finds out that he has hooked up with her best friend while she was gone and was never really that into her. Anna and St. Clair seem to have a connection that neither one of them will act on. They just keep dancing around it as "just friends." While I could see where all this was going, I completely enjoyed the ride! Great characters, great ending, a little predictable, but that's okay - I really liked it. I loaned it out to one of my students already, and she liked it, too. It's a hit! ( )

This book got on my radar after Rainbow Rowell suggested it. I loved Eleanor & Park so much I assumed she was a good judge of teen romance and she was indeed!

I've been stressed lately and needed something easy to read that wouldn't tax my brain too much and this fit the bill well. I enjoyed all the characters, including the city of Paris, and I liked the meandering journey of Anna and St. Clair.

This is not a serious book or great literature but it's a charming YA romance. I'll read her other titles. ( )
