Daisy and her boyfriend’s sweet then big surprises. It would make a great movie. ( ) If you already read Johnny Be Good you’ll be happy to find out that Daisy is actually Paola, Johnny's mysterious runaway PA. If you also read Baby Be Mine you’ll also have a pretty good idea of how this book ends… I had also read the summary of The Longest Holiday on Goodreads, so I had an even bigger spoiler on the story… Nonetheless, I enjoyed this book as much as the others I’ve read so far from Paige Toon, she definitely earned a place among my favorite authors because all her book are quick paced and engaging… they absorb you from the start and don’t let you go until the end… This book is no different. Another thing I like about this author is the fact that she takes minor characters from one book and develops them in another one. The setting of Chasing Daisy revolves around the F1 championship, I liked it … there is a lot of tension from the start and a lot of swearing in Italian, which, accidentally, I can understand …. It made me laugh (even if some of the swear words were misspelled and mistranslated, nothing crucial to the story however!) The only annoying part is where Daisy alias Paola complains so much about being a billionaire’s daughter, making it sound as such a weight to bear… Boohoo! When I started with this book, I genuinely expected to like it. And now, not even half way through, I'm mad, because quite honestly, it is NOT a good work of fiction. First, the writing: it's juvenile, immature, and doesn't live up to it's promise. There's no real diversity in the 'team' , despite it being 'multinational'. Or whatever crap is spouted. Secondly: The plot. Now, I could be wrong in saying that the attraction insta-love with Daisy and Will was over the top. Of course, I don't have enough concrete proof to say so, since I don't know how the story develops from there. As you will notice, this book is on my 'Abandoned' shelf. I had to create one JUST for books like this one. But what pains me the most is that there is no connection between the characters. There is no incentive for me to continue reading, because honestly, I don't give a damn about what happens to Daisy. Or Holly. Or Will. I can't comment about Luis, from the 150 pages or so I read, his sole purpose of existence is to be the bad guy. I'm guessing that halfway through the book, his and Daisy's eyes-meet-across-a-crowded-room, hearts go pitter-patter and suddenly she doesn't know what to do. I'm hanging up on this book. I need an incentive to read a book. Either a good plot, or good writing, or likeable characters. This one seems to be a waste of time. Pity, because it had such good reviews. I wonder how THAT happened. Do not be fooled by the cover of this book. it may seem like your typical glittery chicklit novel, but it is so much more than that. I was truely moved by this book. It is an easy read; I read it in a day because I couldn't put it down. I am having trouble putting how much I loved this book into words. I just want to go all fan girl crazy on this review. The story follows Daisy Rogers, a hilariously offensive individual, who is running away from her family and a very famous ex boyfriend. Daisy works as a 'bun tart' or front of house girl for a Formula 1 racing team. I had no prior knowledge of F1 and had no desire to learn about it. However, Toon provides the perfect amount of detail to help the reader understand the world of F1 while still keeping the storyline interesting. She also does a wonderful job creating the exciting but nerve-wrecking atmosphere present at big races like F1. As you can imagine, Daisy soon falls head over heals for Will, on of the drivers on the team. But poor Daisy had to fight these feelings as Will has a long-term girlfriend. To make things even more exciting, enter Luis, the second driver on the team. After an explosive run in with the infamous Luis Castro, Daisy can't seem to stay out of his way. Both drivers are the complete opposite to each other, bringing out two very different sides of Daisy. I was laughing out loud at the hilarious fights between Luis and Daisy and then swooning over all the little sweet, awkward moments between her and Will. And just when you think you know what's going to happen BAM, there is the mother of all twists. I was completely gobsmacked. Daisy is such a likeable character. I felt that I knew her and when her heart broke, so did mine. It is a tale of secrets, glamour, drama, romance and heartbreak. It had me laughing one minute and crying the next. I have read a few reviews where people have said the ending is a bit predictable but franky I think being able to predict something comes as a bit of relief after the crazy curve ball in the middle! I absolutely adored this book and I just can't do it justice. Like my emotions through out the book, my review is all over the place! But anyway it's a book that I will be reading again, which is saying a lot because I rarely reread books. There is just not enough time to go backwards! 5 Stars! ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu
