I liked the illustrations in the book. The buildings look like they were drawn on separate pieces of paper with crayon and glued into the book while Edward and his daddy look like they are drawn with crayon straight on the page. This type of illustration is more creative and gets the reader thinking about they different ways one can represent the story using multimedia. I enjoyed this because the characters were believable. The little boy wants to be big just like his daddy, which is something most little boys want. The father cares for Edward and is looking out for his safety. For example he says "But I don't want you to fall. Be careful." which is very common for fathers to say when playing with their boys. However, I did not feel as though the story was very engaging. In the end, there is a good message when daddy can't do certain things and Edward can't do certain things because they are either too big or too small. It helps you to realize that you should value who you are. näyttää 3/3 ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu

* prominently features diverse characters - yes, an African-American boy and his dad, which could be interpreted as a single dad family.
* great choice for preschool storytime - engaging storyline and large pictures, plus the topic is one that is easy for kids to relate to. ( )
