Under Fire was the perfect ending to the Defend and Protect series by Lynn Blackburn. I was so excited to get Zane and Tessa's story and I was not disappointed. The author did a great job taking two broken people and created a beautiful and realistic romance. I loved the fast-paced story complete with nail-biting suspense. You could definitely read this as a standalone, but the whole series was fantastic. So, I would highly recommend reading the whole series.

A fantastic book! Romantic suspense at its best! I love all of the characters but my favorites are Tessa and Zane. Tessa is a recovering alcoholic and she's determined to overcome her past and be the best special agent that she can be. Zane is the perfect protector. He's always there for Tessa, encouraging her and making sure she recognizes how special she is. There's so much happening in this book and the ending was a complete surprise! A definite must read! ( )

SA Tessa Reed is a Secret Service agent stationed in Raleigh. She is starting to get her life together when she is attacked. It takes the help of her friends and a strong faith to get her through it . Nice characters, good storyline, interesting look at the work of the Secret Service. ( )

A very suspenseful book in the Defend and Protect series. Zane is living his dream as a Special Agent who gets to help protect the president. He works at setting up security at events the president will attend. As the president plans a trip to Raleigh, NC he get work again with Tessa. She has worked hard to get where she is, but this trip could set her back. Zane wants the best for her and they have to work together to keep the president safe. A real page turner. ( )

From the very opening pages of this Secret Service themed book, the characters hit the ground running and the run is exciting and dangerous.

Set in my own home state's capital, Raleigh, North Carolina, I can sense the reality of each scene, character's development, life styles, and basic living. A bit of modern southern charm seeps in but the female lead is no weak southern belle. She is a strong individual both mentally, physically, and spiritually despite a flawed background and past.

Of course, there are some strong male characters that are irresistible, too, and they all make up the cohesive Raleigh Secret Service office. With the upcoming visit of the President of the United States and the security measures needed to be in place before his plane lands, they are all very busy. Into the mix of this preparation, a life threat is found against lead agent, Tessa Reed.

Throw in a sweet romance and you have the makings for a grand read. Lynn H. Blackburn doesn't seem to ever disappoint when she shares her writing talents and this Defend and Protect book #3 proves that to again be true.
