While not bad, Ms. Shiloh has a bad habit of making the characters repeat everything at least once, as if to emphasize the trauma and everything else that goes through their heads.
It would be nice to have another reason than childhood molestation for a character not to want or believe in a mate. How about something novel, like, maybe the character just genuinely does not want a mate or what have you, but begins to think it might not be such a bad thing, (assuming the character isn't aromantic, of course.
