Eloise lives at the Plaza Hotel. There is a wedding being held at the hotel and Eloise investigates all of the various events from the cooking to the cleaning. She even tries on the brides wedding gown before she takes her bath. After her bath, she peeks in on the bride and sees that the bride is crying. Eloise asks the bride what is wrong; the bride answers that her flower girl is sick and won't be at the wedding. Eloise saves the day by being a flower girl in the wedding in her robe. The illustrations are drawn and filled in with watercolors. This is an early reader for those children who can already recognize words and are starting to read; it includes increased vocabulary and longer sentences, but the story is still simple. There is to be a wedding at the Plaza Hotel where Eloise lives, and Eloise loves weddings. Young girls interested in weddings and the fancy life, as well as laughing, will get a kick out of this story. Simple sentences are easy to read, with most of the story being told through the artwork, which is bright, expressive, and quite funny. Eloise trying on the wedding dress and the reactions of those around are sure to bring giggles. That said, sometimes the text has nothing to do with the antics in the art, which may cause confusion. The title says it all for those who know who Eloise is, and this book may also make new Eloise fans of those who don't. ( )
