I see that other users have the Doubleday Dolphin (C26, 95¢) cover by Paul Feigay. Anyone know the publication date?

Amazon and BookMooch have it as 1930. Hope that helps.

That's the copyright date. Most sources list that if there is no publication date shown. This edition was probably published in the 1960s or in 1970, according to a couple of sellers who tried to find out.

Looks like 1973.

lilithcat,

Is Anchor the same as Dolphin? I'd found that edition, but figured it wasn't the right one.

I'm pretty sure they are. At least, they're both imprints of Doubleday.

Hmm, this one says "1970?"

What does your cover look like? There's a Doubleday/Dolphin here dated 1960 that doesn't mention the illustrator but does describe the cover.

Of course, what I'm now really curious about is whether this is the same Paul Feigay who produced "On the Town", among other Broadway productions.

Lilithcat,

No, that isn't the same cover. And what's with a cat and a rat? archy was a roach. (Not that I'd want to take my oath as to the critters portrayed on my cover. Grin.)

The cover is mostly black on top, very "busy" below. It's the first user provided cover shown. (One can't see the detail very well.)

I'd like to know about Feigay too. Googling doesn't produce any other Paul Feigay, or any suggestion that he ever did the art for a book cover. The interior illos are signed "Herriman." That would be George Herriman.
