Since sexual relations between dragon riders appears to be anything but consensual, could this be seen as a form of rape?

I was thinking the same thing. But yeah, I would guess so that it kind of is. The idea is twisted...but the twistedness is what makes it good.

Close to the way I see it too, but not exactly my interpretation. Remember, there are two dragons that become aroused by each other. Through the telepathic linking, the riders also become aroused. I've viewed this as "animal passion" personified.

One questionable exception I can come up with was when Mennolly's gold Firelizard mated in, I think, the first Harper Hall book. It's been a while since I read this one so I don't remember the title, but I seem to remember she was unprepared for what happened.

I agree. I'm not sure if that's what happens with the fire-lizard, but Kylara tried to do that in Dragonquest, so I can only imagine what happened.

Wow, it's been a while.

#3 I think that was the third Harper Hall book, and it was her bronze and Sebell's bronze. I think. It's been a while since I've read them, as well, but I think the first one was all about Menolly's journey to the Hall.

>5 justjukka: It is. I've read it since then. Actually, I should've knew the affects after reading Dragonsdawn.
