- Judit Trethon was born in Budapest, Hungary. As a young girl and teenager, she read science fiction books, mainly the works of Jules Verne and Stanislaw Lem. In 1968, she joined the MTESZ science fiction club as its youngest member. She began to publish translations of foreign works of fantasy and sci-fi, as well as writing numerous book reviews, film criticism, and articles under the pseudonym Vilmá Szöllősi as well as her own. She was a founding member of the European Sci-Fi Society established in Trieste in 1972. From 1987 to 1990, she worked alongside Péter Kuczka as the editor of the science fiction magazine Galaktika, which contributed greatly to the popularization of the genre in Hungary. She also wrote short stories and novels. In addition to science fiction, Trethon's other specialty was writing film history. In 1990, she left Galaktika and started the Griff book series. She co-hosted the television program "Zero Type Encounters" with János Déri. She was the head of the jury for the Péter Zsoldos Award, established in 1998 by the Avana Association, which recognized the best Hungarian science fiction novels and short stories.
