Plot-wise, King of Hearts is not bad. Despite the icky nature of the subject matter (torture, treason, veteran re-integration, a bad guy who seems to be a pedophile), it's pretty light-hearted in an 80s movie caper kind of way. The hard boiled cop saves the day and gets the girl, along the way losing his post-Iraq nightmares. What's not to like? The dialog. Almost all of the dialog was stilted and rushed, almost like a middle-school play rehearsal. How can written dialog be rushed? I don't know, but this book manages it.… (lisätietoja)
