Debra Sanders suffered a head injury, what was initially thought to be a mild concussion altered this award-winning educational psychologist in profound ways.
That she was able to tell her story is amazing. Her insights and honesty dealing with its aftermath, in her personal and professional life, can help many families.

This is one of those stories that took me a long time to read. It has stayed with me as I thought about what Debra went through, and her insight into brain injuries, and how children with learning disabilities are still being handled in our public schools. This is an important tool to open dialog between those who want to understand and help people with head injuries, and special education advocates. Portions of her memoir got my blood boiling because of the injustice she and some of the kids went through, but nonetheless it is an enjoyable read because it is well written, touching, and at times humorous.

These are my suggestions for who should read this book:
• Anyone who knows someone with a brain injury.
• If you have a child with any type of learning disability.
• If someone you love has had a stroke, or other types of brain dysfunction.
• Military families whose loved ones were close to an explosion from a road side bomb.
• Educators, doctors, physicians, therapists and counselors.
