This book was fine. There are many like it available. It reminds kids that they are perfect the way they are, and that everyone is different. It does in the back have some information about Down Syndrome, but it is not really illustrated on the pages, or in the story.

A wonderful story told from the inspiration of a young girl named Sofia Sanchez. It's about accepting who are, loving yourself, and being kind to others.

A young girl, inspired by a real-life child with Down syndrome, narrates this book about being yourself no matter what.

The illustrations in this book are beautiful, with a bright palette, and showcase children with a variety of abilities and disabilities from different racial backgrounds.

The general message about letting your unique self shine and not caring if other people stare is good, but the book is basically 100 percent cheery. I think that's okay for young children on the whole, but I do know some disability advocates and disabled people get frustrated by media that feels overly saccharine in its inspiration and calls for cheerfulness in situations that don't always warrant in it.

Backmatter includes more information about the story's inspiration and about Down syndrome generally.½

This book is a lullaby. The mom is singing to her baby teaching him words. She sings to him about his body parts, the moon, sun, etc. When the baby reaches for something, the mother yells, "baby, no!" This can be a great book to read to kids who have younger siblings. They can teach their baby siblings by singing to them.

This is not a story as much as it is a poem. The illustrations are bright and expressive. They complement each stanza well (just 4 lines per 2-page spread). The vocabulary repetition makes this a very nice choice for developing readers.

Pros: Expressive illustrations combine with an easy-to-read poem that will make animal lovers purr.

About all the different things you can touch, see, do, with a baby as they grow older, and the different things they can do like drum on a pot & pan & things like that. It's just who the child is.

Twins do everything together. Twins are double the trouble & double the fun, and double the mess, and go to bed & it begins all over again.

MY KITTEN is a lovely book from Margaret O'Hair and Tammie Lyon (Illustrator).

The book features child-friendly drawings in warm colors that stretch from page-edge to page-edge. The text is short, staccato sentences that make up a fun rhyme.

Bowl kitten,
gold kitten,
fish kitten,
stare.

Scoot kitten,
leap kitten,
jump kitten,
chair.

Rhymes are always great for children. It teaches them the subtle rules of language, and has been correlated with promoting memory practice. And the repetition within the text can be used to urge even very young children to identify words for themselves.

The drawings are nice and since they show pictures of furniture, a fish and squirrel, and other items, the book can be used with older babies to identify these objects.

This seems like a well constructed book. The back seems well formed and the pages are heavy and slick --though not sturdy enough for babies and some toddlers.½

This is a quick rhyming read about a girl and her puppy, and all the activities they do together. From playing outside to taking a bath to getting into bed, these two have a wonderful time together and the puppy is obviously happy just to be loved. This is a rhyming board book that shows parallels between people and pets.

This book is a fair example of poetry because the words are written to purposefully express ideas through rhyme. The rhyming is done in an ABA pattern and conveys a message that twins are very alike. The setting of the story takes place in the twins hose and they go through different activities together, for example playing with their teddy bears on their bed. The time the story takes place is not talked about but it is during the twins early years in life. Age appropriate: primary. Media: watercolors.
