Was surprised that this book actually talks about the months of the years, each poetic line describing an aspect of that month, and how much more the speaker loves the child.

The illustrations and sentimentality reminded me of Munsch's "Love You Forever" and I still think I'd lean that book of the two, but this is still a book with lovely illustrations and would make a good gift for a child or mother-to-be.

This book had beautiful illustrations and a lovely sentiment about how much we love our children/grandchildren. The book compares a parent's love to the wind and to the tastes of various things using the description of strength and sweetness and to how much animals love their babies. The writing is poetic but there are times that it is stilted. The repetition of the wording make it so that the youngest child can soon join in. As a board book this would be a great book for your youngest readers and one they can use to bond with their parents, and grandparents. I read this book to my granddaughter and she loved the pictures, but did not understand the sentiment. It is a board book, but it is really better suited to 4 and 5 year olds. I recommend this to families for their home library or to give as a gift at baby showers or when a new baby is born. The publisher, Orca Book Publishers, generously provided me with a copy of this book to read. The rating, ideas and opinions are my own.… (lisätietoja)

This was a lovely poem that uses metaphor to explain the love one has for another. It’s a lovely poem, I just wished it rhymed. It’s a small thing, but it’s what kept it from a five for this reviewer.

I read this because it was shortlisted for a Governor General's award. Now I wish I hadn't bothered.

Musgrave's Dove had nothing at all that I could connect to or recognize from my own experience, and the joy of reading poetry comes from a some sense of recognition or illumination. End result: reading this made me feel like I was slogging through treacle.
