Albert G. Ingalls (1888–1958)

Later to become a series vaunting scientific amateurs in Scientific American magazine.

The classic book that boosted telescope-making as a painstaking hobbyist art for adults (not kids!) in the 1930s-50s in many countries. Paralleled and boosted by a regular column in Scientific American magazine over the same period, and succeeded by the equally seminal 'The Amateur Scientist' column of C. L. Stong 1950s-70s.

Used an earlier edition of this (was it 1974!?) to build my own telescope. Spent a summer doing this. Great fun. Not entirely sure it was this book, but something with a similar name at least.

A classic book, I use to won the original books, purchased this one when I started to grind a new mirror.
