This is an account of a "spiritual initiation" that the author experienced over a couple of years, including a 9-month stay at Pendle Hill. Her time there provided the space, time, permission, and support to focus on and open to spiritual growth. Our spiritual paths are all different; this is a fascinating story of one person's path.
Her important spiritual disciplines include: a daily journal of thoughts, feelings, lessons learned, inner messages, and quotes, with drawings. Meeting for worship. Meeting with her spiritual friend every two weeks. She has worked with a spiritual guide. Prayer, daily and in meeting for worship. Personal retreats; these are very important. She has a Quiet Day once a week: a day with the spirit, and no telephone calls, no chores, no appointments. That is when she gets creative ideas, leadings, and clarity of focus.
One apparent lesson is that spiritual growth comes, not surprisingly, when one gives it time, space, attention, and support.
