Wilson is an interesting writer. Unfortunately, in this book he turns his undeniable talents towards producing one big long tabloid scandal sheet. ( )

Right-wing version of British History: Nothing wrong with that so long as the reader keeps in mind A.N. Wilson is convinced the only good UK Governments were those of the Conservatives. Even PM Atlee's first post-WW2 victorious landslide Labour Government which gave the UK the NHS, Welfare State and universal Education 5 to 15 were likely to have been Churchillian Tory administration polices too, but for a later date! Dream on! ( )

Quite entertaining and very well written (as all Wilson's books are) but his political and aesthetic prejudices are rather overstated. ( )
