A great story with real events from history; I'm looking forward to the rest of the trilogy. ( )

Weird. Not thrilling.

Because I loved "The Blood Red Horse," etc., I was looking forward to the "Blue Flame." However, I didn't even finish this book. It's too bad, because the historical period is interesting and the main characters are compelling YA characters. The major flaw of this book is that the "Blue Flame" is a character that interjects thoughts and feelings in the first person into the third person narrative book. These are not set off in the text in any way, but sometimes appear within a third person paragraph. I find this jarring and confusing, and I am a relatively sophisticated reader. ( )

There wasn't really a most compelling part. I only read a little and wasn't drawn in to read it. The plot was moving slow, the characters wer confusing, it was boring. AHS/KG

Not a bad read, but this story of a mysterious blue flame, it's protector and Cathar persecution didn't really excite me. ( )
