The thing I loved most about this book was the imagination of the main characters and the telling of the real event of the first flight. We get to hear everything that the the Wright brothers were planning on doing. We hear all that the Wright brothers needed to make flight successful and we get to see illustrations of all of this happening. The kids in the book are all imagining what could come out of the Wright brothers making flight possible. The kids imagine that there could be a plane that carries two people, a flying machine for one person to sit in and steer, flying war machines, a huge flying bus, and a flying machine to go to the moon. As far as the kids know, its just their imagination talking. The audience knows that all of these things are actually real, of course with different names. Although the Wright brothers were able to succeed in being the first people to make flight possible, the kids didn't allow that to deter them of all the great things to come. ( ) This book was very appealing to me, and I feel like children would find it easily appealing as well. This book shares a journey about The Wright Brothers and the goals they had accomplished by their very own wondrous minds. This gives children a look into the events that led up to the very first flight. “The Flyers” does this while also capturing the imagination of young readers, who may also have huge goals such as The Wright Brothers did. At the back of the book, a timeline is available for the reader to look at sharing all the goals The Wright Brothers accomplished. Told from the perspective of children who play in the sand dunes, this story of the first flight. As the Wright brothers struggle to create a machine that had never been created, the children's imagination soars as they imagine what they would do with a flying machine. The illustrations add to the feeling of lightness and flight. The flyers would be a great book to introduce young children to the Wright brother’s first flight. The book tells the story of the various attempts and design concepts of the Wright Brothers. The book also includes the observations local children made about seeing the brothers at work testing their designs. Each child that was present has a dream about flying. Toward the end of the book you are given highlights of the events in history from 1903-1969. All which lead up to the 12 second flight at Kitty Hawk. My seven year old daughter loved this book. Her uncle is a pilot and it offered her simple insight to the history of flight. näyttää 5/5 ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu
