This story covers such subjects as alcoholism, battered women and abusive relationships, rape, and political corruption and journalistic integrity, all told through the eyes of 4 women connected to one particular man. Throw in a handful of bizarre small town characters, and a whole lot of cross dressers, and you have a great story. It does take a little while to figure out what particular tale each woman is trying to tell, and there is a bit of a mystery to unravel, but this is an excellent read. I finished the book and enjoyed most of the characters' sections from that point on, though Lola still drove me crazy. Not sure I'd recommend it, but if you find it lying around it might be worth the few hours it'd take to read. (
