The last comic in this volume is an ABSOLUTE WINNER. ( )

Det var väl oundvikligt att Squirrel girl skulle behöva konfrontera mullvadsmannen, härskare över underjorden. Mindre väntat är kanske att historien, som utgör huvuddelen av I kissed a squirrel and I liked it, också handlar om kärlek. Doreen vill ha det, och provar nätdejting. Både som sig själv och som Squirrel girl. Inget av försöken blir lyckat: antingen råkar hon ut för personer som ogillar ekorrar, eller så är det något annat. Minst dålig är nog försöket med en jättelik robot byggd för att döda mutanter(!), konstigast det med en kille som tror superhjältar är en konspiration.

Men då dyker nämnda mullvadsman upp, arg för att Squirrel girl ovetande fått Kraven att gå till storms mot underjorden (efter ett underbart montage i sen 1800-talsstil), men när hon som vanligt försöker använda vänlighet så misstolkas det, och nu börjar han istället göra allt för att fånga hennes intresse.

Förutom försöken att nå en lösning som kan bli mer hållbar än »sparka mullvaden i baken så hårt att han flyger till månen« (är det förresten mer eller mindre våldsamt än att hysta upp honom i luften, och hävda att man inte slagit honom utan att det kommer vara han själv eller gravitationen som gör det? Diskutera.) dyker det även upp en man gjord helt av bin, som omhändertas i ett välj-ditt-eget-äventyr (vilket fungerar lite sådär i serieformat), samt en mardröm som frammanar olika skurkar som besegras med programmeringskunskaper (inte riktigt så konstigt som det låter).

Fortsatt roligt, fortsatt fullt med konstiga referenser och idéer (det sista äventyret tycks snarast vara ett sätt att landa i en helsidespastisch på hårdrockskonst). Fantastiskt. ( )

In this fourth volume we get a choose your own adventure comic, an arc in which Doreen tries online dating, and a showdown with several villains where computer science knowledge is helpful in defeating them.

I love Squirrel Girl comics. Not only are they fun and funny they tackle issues so well. Doreen's plot with Mole Man during the online dating arc and exploring that just because someone likes you does not in any way oblige you to like them back or engage in activities with them is amazing content for the target audience (and really, any audience). Also, one of the summary pages was done in Victorian style and now Victorian Squirrel Girl is on my list of cosplays I'd love to do. You know, if I could actually sew. ( )

The fourth graphic novel collection featuring the Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, the Marvel Universe's squirreliest and most unbeatable superhero. This one features a comic where you get to be Squirrel Girl in a choose-your-own-adventure-ish fashion. Also, Squirrel Girl enters the world of online dating, deals with a creepy mole man, and gets trapped in a nightmare where she defeats bad guys by teaching them about computer science. Lots of fun, as always! And I kind of love how these are comics you could be totally happy to put into the hands of any kid -- Squirrel Girl is actually an awesome role model -- but that are also thoroughly entertaining for adults. ( )
