I really enjoyed reading Rumpelstiltskin for two main reasons. First, I loved how vivid the colors of the illustrations are. The illustrations are also very whimsical especially the part where Rumpelstiltskin is turning the straw into gold, the golden straws look like floating pieces of ribbon that flow in and out of the pages creating a whimsical feel to the book. Second, I loved how the direction of the words correlate to what is happening in the story. For example, when Rumpelstiltskin is running into the woods the words are written to look like a wave, creating the illusion of motion.
The big idea of the story is to not be cocky. Rumpelstiltskin is extremely cocky and never believes that anyone would guess his name and create friction and anger within the castle. However, this comes back to bite him when the princess learns his name and he is forbidden to return to the castle. ( )

This book retells the classic story of Rumpelstiltskin. This version is written for younger children learning new vocabulary words and practicing basic reading comprehension. The pictures are very vibrant and colorful beginning with the cover. Several stories related to the character of Rumpelstiltskin today, portray a sinister and manipulative character. However, this tale shows a poor working tailor ,and tells his story.
