A tale of two Nanas

On June 17 of this year, a copy of the LEC Nana sold for $9.99 plus shipping:

On August 18 of this year, a copy of the LEC Nana sold for $182.73 plus shipping:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/292211923736?hash=item4409301b18%3Ag%3AN4AAAOSw5n5ZhNMR...

Both copies came with the ML, and both copies appear to me to be in Very Good+ or near Fine condition. The August 18 copy came with its glassine cover (which the June 17 copy lacked) and the seller of the August 18 copy says it contains uncut pages (and shows some uncut pages in a photograph). But, overall, the buyer of the August 18 copy seriously overpaid for it and whoever got the June 17 copy got lucky since they ended up significantly underpaying for the book. If you notice the August 18 copy also has a very slight imperfection near the top spine--where the color has come off. And the buyer of the August 18 book has to now cut the uncut pages if they want to read it.

>1 blue.eyes2: Technically, those pages are unopened, not uncut. "Uncut" means untrimmed, and uncut page edges are uneven. If it is handmade paper, then the deckles are preserved if the book is uncut. A book can thus be "uncut,", "unopened" and "uncut and unopened."

>2 Glacierman: I did think that this picture (posted by the seller of the LEC Nana sold on August 18) was of uncut pages:

Good to know about the difference between uncut and unopened pages. This page gives some additional details on this matter:

>3 blue.eyes2: Excellent link! thank you.

So, as you can see, the book above is both uncut and unopened.

>1 blue.eyes2: Serves as an example of how much value collectors put on condition. The LEC Nana seldom appears in fine condition and often with sunned spine.

>6 BuzzBuzzard: When I first read your post I disagreed with you, but it turns out I now agree with you to some extent. These are some pictures of my two copies of the LEC Nana:

The copy on the left was for $57.50 plus shipping while the one on the right was an inexpensive copy--both copies purchased earlier this year. I was sure that the $57.50 copy was flawless except for that one spot of discolouration in the top left of the front board, an imperfection which is also present in the $182.73 copy referred to in my original post, and another spot of discolouration on the bottom left of the front board. However, I now see that my $57.50 copy also has a small indentation on the spine. I'll have to be more careful next time.

Two other copies of the LEC Nana for your consideration:

A seemingly flawless copy reviewed two years ago by GardenofForkingPaths (though I can't see the full spine of the book) which he says was for 50 pounds inclusive of shipping to UK:

And another copy of the LEC Nana which sold on eBay for $9.99 plus shipping on August 29 of this year. This copy came with the glassine which I imagine would have protected the spine, and also contained uncut/unopened pages as per the seller, but lacked the ML:

Would you mind sharing how much you paid for your copy of this book? If it's not too much trouble please post one or two pictures of your copy.

I intended to bid on that 9.99 copy but fell asleep!
