If I have multiple copies of the same book and changed the description in the title do I still need to give each one alternate barcode numbers instead of the standard ISBN numbers issued to the book? After adding a few and seeing an error message I am guessing it won't let me check out more than one of that ISBN?
Thanks!
Thanks!

What error message are you seeing and where are you seeing it? You can certainly catalog multiple copies of the same ISBN, and scan-to-search by that ISBN (or title) when checking the copies in/out. The individual barcode numbers aren't required, but suggested when you're dealing with multiple copies of the same ISBN (we have a "Barcode" field for that).

Thank you that helps! I have several copies of children's books & I think I went down and put the ISBN in the Barcode field which would have generated the duplicate barcode error. I'm from a college bookstore background so used to dealing with 100's of copies of the same ISBN instead issuing each copy a different barcode so that is where I got confused. I think I can fix it easily enough.

Gotcha! You'll definitely see errors, that way, since we already have an ISBN field that handles those. The "Barcode" field needs to be unique to the record. I'm here if you have any further questions!

If you have multiple copies of a book, and you give each copy a separate barcode, does each barcode count towards your total number of books? Using Tiny Cat for a small school library and may have two copies of any given book. If each barcode counts toward the total of books in my library, I will reach the max allowed quickly.
