Her friends appreciate her kindness, but things aren't always pleasant. She faces criticisms that lead to self-doubt, but she is determined to overcome those and stay strong. Then, when she grows into an adult and becomes a mother, she does something more beautiful.

We picked this book for its nomination to Goodreads awards. This book empowers young girls to stay kind and dream big while counting all those beautiful blessings one has while growing up. Mike Wu made brilliant illustrations to complement the spirit of the story.

Beautifully illustrated, sensitive story for any child growing up but also contains Japanese specific culture and heritage. The author adds personal notes at the end of the book. Excellent!
