This was an okay read. A little bit different in that their entire arrangement began as both of them just wanting a no strings affair. Not my favorite sort of hero as it took him way too long to discover he was in love with her. I usually prefer my heroes to be head over heels even if he is hiding it from her. In this case he was hiding it from himself. This book mostly hinged on lack of communication although I'm not real sure I blame the heroine totally for keeping mum. It's not like they were a regular sort of boyfriend/girlfriend where it would seem normal to have that "where is this going?" conversation. They had spelled out the relationship rules early and considering she was sleeping with the boss who has a wild womanizing reputation, keeping her mouth shut seems realistic. Just about everything an HP should be. Arrogant, misguided hero who thinks the heroine is out for number one? Check. Virgin heroine who can't resist the hero's sexual advances? Check. Pregnant the first time you have sex? Check. Sex on a private jet? Sex in the shower? Sex up against the wall? Check. Check. Check. Plus torn undies and bare lady bits for the rest of the date, every other scene. Okay, that's new.

Well written. Good characterization. The plot depended on him being blind to her real personality and believing an incompetent PI. But hey it's an HP. I know what I'm signing up for. The heroine was not a total doormat even though she was totally susceptable to his wicked advances. She tried not to fall for him and even hung up on him and told him not to come over, she was busy. She was very suspicious of his motives and didn't trust him. But he was just too good in bed I guess.

Loved the scene at the end when she hears him on the phone right in front of her plotting to marry her for her inheritance.

"Why don't you just ask me now?"
"Ask you what?"
"Ask me to marry you, of course, and get it over with."
He leaned back in his chair and said nothing. Silence stretched between them, as tense as an elastic band drawn back as far as it could go and almost at breaking point. She could almost see his brain ticking over. "What makes you think I'm going to ask you to marry me?"
"What makes you think I don't understand Greek?"

Oh snap! Dang that incompetent PI!

Let's follow that up with a good bit of groveling. I thought she made him work for it and when she was ready, she just let him off the hook. Quite satisfying.… (lisätietoja)
