The Corvette in Literature and Culture: Symbolic Dimensions of America's Sports Car is most certainly a treasure for the car-enthusiast, yet the underlying message of the machine and how it transforms its owner, is spelled out in the pages of this incredibly well-researched book about America's favorite sports car...The Corvette. Passon covers how the car is portrayed in literature, film, and TV and how its power is perceived in each form.

This is a must for the automobile fan, movie fan, and lit fan. Includes bibliography and index.

My son absolutely loved this book and we have shared it with 2 other Corvette fans. They have enjoyed it as well.

I found this book interesting but a little much. I love my corvette but you would have to be a die hard corvette enthusiast to get through all of this book. There is a wealth of information though, the author went to a lot of work researching every aspect of America's sports car.

What interested me the most in The Corvette in Literature and Culture: Symbolic Dimensions of America's Sports Car was the cover picture, which I learned after reading the book was entitled "Concrete Heaven" by Dana Forrester. Unfortunately seeing one of the most famous landmarks from my old neighborhood was the most interesting part of the book for me. Passon's coverage of the Corvette in literature and other cultural mediums was interesting, and I did learn some and found a couple paragraphs highly interesting, but it was very dry reading. Each chapter was filled with jargon - scholastic not mechanic - and too many quotes. This just served to halt what was already slow reading.… (lisätietoja)
