This account focuses more on survival in Iraq and life after the Armenian Genocide than it does on events that occurred during the genocide, itself, but various atrocities are mentioned throughout. There's a glossary of foreign phrases in the back, but even without the glossary, the phrases can be understood based on context. The book includes a few photos as well, and provides some insight into what it was like for the many orphans who survived the Armenian Genocide alone, without any parents or older relatives to take care of them. These children survived the death march across the desert to be faced with question of, "How, now, do I live?"
Ultimately, this is a story of hope and of never giving up the will to survive, and of learning how to live after your world was destroyed by other people--people and politics over whom you, as a child, have no control.
