I enjoyed it because it was a book that grabbed you in the beginning and then you just kept reading to see how it would end.
Een brother van de heftige wijk shaw in washington DC komt in de problemen wanneer hij iemand neerschiet. Hij vliucht naar charlotte waar zijn beste vriend woont en dealt met zichzelf en wat hij daar meemaakt met vrouwen en leert over zichzelf. Een spannend verhaal, puur, wel aan het einde wat doorzichtig. Jasper zet de twijfels en onzekerheid van een 19-jarige jongen uit de ghetto beeldend neer.
This book took me longer than expected. I think this was due to the fact that the climax book(for me) took place 20 pages into the book. After that it was just follow up. The premise was good, and the characters was alright. I think some of the language was outdated. (This book was written in 1997, 10 years ago. The author tried to write in a more slang tone.) One thing I thought was that of course when the narrator was chatting with his friends he has that "slang" type tone, but of course when he was just narrating, all the slang disappeared. I haven't had quite enough time to analize what, if anything, this means, but I found it interesting. Plus, at the end of the story, we don't know what Thai is going to do.
