I think it is a great quality book; it is based locally and written locally. The readability is great for this age group; which makes it easier to use in a unit. I would use this book as a read-aloud with a unit on species and their ecosystems because it introduces not only one type of animal but also the area in which they live in.

An okay read aloud; not one of my favorites.

This book is a fabulous tool for teaching kids about camping, curiosity, how we bring danger to nature. It discusses safety, conservation, bear behavior, etc.... good illustrations, too!! Its local to the Smokey Mountains in TN. Grades PreK-3
