Kate Hendrick

Very likeable story about a girl called Lindsay who notices things that other people don't. Her first success is noticing a young girl who has gone missing twice on her way home from school, and being curious, she works out where the missing girl is staying and convinces her to go home to her parents. (Quite funny scene with Lindsay and Vogue arguing to see who can out bluff the other and Lindsay winning.) Vogue's parents are so grateful to Lindsay for finding Vogue that they publicize who it was that found their child and Lindsay, who keeps to herself at school, is suddenly asked by one of the popular girls to help her older friend Elias find his birth mother.
Lindsay wants to say No but when Elias offers to pay her, she can't back down and agrees.
This leads the two of them on a very interesting quest to discover who Elias' mother really is, and in the process they become friends AND run into Vogue again, which ends up in a road trip to an isolated caravan park where they think Elias' birth mother is located.
AS they become friends, Lindsay finally confesses about her twin sister Frankie, who disappeared in the bush when they were both 7 and was never seen again, and this is why Lindsay notices stuff - she is looking for Frankie.
Good story in that Elias is gay, so he has no designs on Lindsay and so there is no romantic entanglement to complicate matters further BUT you get the male perspective of Lindsay's plight. Loved it.… (lisätietoja)

Ehh. This was not a bad book but I can't really say that I like it either. I almost DNFed this because:

1. It's boring.

I like books that manage to capture my interest and could hold it until the end. Unfortunately, this book didn't do it for me.

2. I didn't connect with any of these characters.

I found them bland. There's no one that really stood out or affected me in some way.

Hmm. Eliat, maybe. I didn't know at first that she's Tash's mother. That's a lot of baggage to be thrown in a child. She was so young.

3. The POVs.

The book has 3 POVs without indicating which POV is the chapter about. Confusing as hell at the beginning but you'll get use to it somehow.

The ending is a complete mess. I am so confused on how these characters are connected in some way. So many of my questions are left unanswered. Others said to take note of the 'before, after, later' but I didn't because I couldn't really get what they mean.

Ahh sorry. I didn't enjoy this book. Maybe others will find this appealing but it's just not for me.
