Although I tend to find this particular Osprey series slight, I have to give the author credit for writing intelligently about elite light-infantry units, which seems to be his bread and butter topic. I'm also not so informed about the war in North Africa that I'm jaded with the topic, particularly from the British perspective. Which is basically another way of saying that there seems to be a place for a new history of British airborne troops in World War II and Greentree would probably do a good job of it.… (lisätietoja)

This is Osprey at it's most workmanlike, as this is another one of their series that while informative, often seems like less than the sum of its parts. Such is the case here, with the single most interesting component being the nature of the Soviet naval infantry, which evolved into a rather elite force; more like the USMC's "raider battalions" than anything else.
Solid account of a fairly obscure campaign; the campaign to eject German forces from Finland after Finland left the war in the fall of 1944. The best job is done with setting the scene as to just how arduous the terrain was. Good illustrations as well.
Very well written account of the Hunt for Marshal Tito. Surprisingly well written. Great art and photographs.
