Donna Getzinger

Mostly known for his Italian operas, Handel was one of the most respected composers in eighteenth century England. This book does a great job at presenting his legacy for readers to see how he along with his music has evolved along with the times; it chronicles his life beginning as a precocious child into an enduring marvel whose music has influenced many up and coming composers. His father's constant admonishments of him pursuing music as a career was greatly denied; his father viewed music as a pursuit with contempt. In an attempt to prove his father wrong, Handel worked diligently and tireless at succeeding as a musician. His work would occupy most of his time and denies him of a lasting romantic relationship. I really enjoyed reading this book because although I did appreciate some of his work, I never understood the man behind his music.… (lisätietoja)
