This book is by an author who is local to me. Given that he has a popular instagram account, I was surprised to find that his books aren't listed on the major sites I review on and I had to add them in those where I was able.

I borrowed this from my local library--something I like to do before I buy cookbooks/recipe books so I can see if there are enough recipes I think I'd try before I spend the money on the book.

I also read Volume 1 which includes more about the authors journey. This volume is all recipes--so if you are looking for recipes, this is the book to check out (volume 1 only contains an handful of recipes at the end however, those recipes are different than the ones in this volume).

Sadly, I didn't find many recipes I thought I would make. Some that sounded interesting required a sous vide (which I don't have--and I'm done buying new products that I use a couple times then just sit there taking up space. I guess I've had too many issues with trying a low salt recipe that doesn't give the flavor I think it should.) I guess I prefer simple recipes and ingredients with simple preparations.

This book is by an author local to me--perhaps that's why I had to create it on some sites despite it having an ISBN number? I no longer remember how I first heard of it. It is the first volume of a 2 volume (so far) set.

This book talks more about the author David Chippi and his journey. He recalls his childhood interactions with the kitchen and his jobs that involved restaurants and catering. He also was asked to do live cooking demonstrations on televisions and to teach cooking classes. In 2018, a health scare moved him to the Low Salt world and he quickly discovered how limited the commercial products would be to his diet--so he set out to adapt recipes to make flavorful versions of dishes he enjoyed in the past.

There are a handful of what he considers "foundational" recipes at the very end of the book. (If you are looking for recipes only volume 2 is probably more your style.) These recipes are bread products, making your own lunchmeats, barbecue sauces that mimic popular ones, salsa, jerky and possibly a few others.

His story was interesting to read. I don't know that I'll buy this book to add to my low salt recipe collection though since so few recipes are in it. (I borrowed my copy from the library to check it out before deciding if I would buy it).
