This is a very cute story, about a boy who wants to find the perfect pet, and a lonely duck who just wants a friend. The illustrations are adorable, and I like that the story is told in a few chapters, so that kids who are still reading picture books can be introduced to the concept of chapters and multiple parts of a single story. ( )

Take one boy who is convinced that he needs a dog-- with waggy tail, floppy ears, soft wet nose, warm furry tongue, and the ability to learn fantastic new tricks-- and places an ad in the paper to secure said dog. Add one lonely, nameless duck who reads the article. The result is a quietly hilarious story about friendship in unexpected places. Wonderful text wonderful illustrations = a read-aloud that is sure to be a hit. ( )

Wanted: The Perfect Pet is the story of a boy who wants a dog and a duck who wants a friend. The boy decided a duck is perfect for him and the duck is able to be himself. They are able to be great friends in the end due to a little effort from both sides. ( )
