Kiss Me Like You Love Me is Wednesday Lee Friday's third book, and quite possibly my favorite. While A Stabbing for Sadie and The Cat's Apprentice are both excellent reads, Ms. Friday really finds her voice in this new novel about a serial killer and the people in his life. The story of Mikey is told through several points of view, each intriguing in its own way. Friday's skill of creating characters through her use of first-person narrative shines here, as we learn as much about Mikey's friends, adversaries, and family as we do about him.

And it's a creepy, scary pageturner, too. Suspense builds as each character wrestles with their share of what Mikey has done to them. Who's going to die next? Will Mikey be caught? Friday's ability to write horror with a sense of humor continues to develop, and, surprisingly, she also creates sympathy for someone whose actions make him seem like nothing more than a monster. I can't wait for her next one. ( )
