Reread 4th time.

Can't get over the fact that there are ghosts inside the court at Chapter 2. ._. ( )

This was a good wrap up to the Vampire Academy series. There was tons of action and growth from many characters which I greatly appreciated. I know I'm no longer part of the target age group which probably has a little to do with why I feel like I can't give this book anything higher than about 4 stars. Not everything was wrapped up nicely and neatly in a bow but that's still how I felt at the end of this book which isn't what real life is like. I appreciated the twists and turns and there were only 1 or 2 things that I truly didn't see coming, so overall the story felt pretty predictable.

I would recommend this series to individuals in their late teens who enjoy urban fantasy. I enjoyed the urban fantasy aspect of this story but it was definitely out of my age range. I still think I want to try to spin off series though... ( )

It was a good book that wrapped up most everything, but I still had one big question when I finished it. I wish the author would write a small ebook or novella to wrap up the major thing she left hanging. ( )

Oy, oy, oy, oy, oy. This book was completley horrid. This book could have been, what, about 300 pages and still sum up this crappy plot. But, with all the random shit and annoying-as-hell filler, it ended up being about 600. It was so boring at times that I almost died. The only reason I continued was to see Adrian, and to finally rid myself of these books. Okay, moving on,

Plot: Well,I am now going to spoil it all behind this "veiw spoiler" button, so beware. Rose gets busted out of jail by Abe and Lissa and Co., goes on the run with Dimitri, randomly pick up Sydney, who is bieng blackmailed by Abe to help, Rose runs away, gets caught, they go to the Keepers (who are never mentioned again and were only there to kill some trees), Rose gets visited in her dreams by Victor and his brother Robert, where she tells them all their plans, recives advice, which she promptly takes, telling her to get Lissa nominated for Queen even though she has no way of winning because she doesn't have a sibling. But, Rose soon figures out that she must find the illigitamate daughter of Eric Dragomir (whose existence was mentioned in a letter left by a pre-death Tatiana). They meet up with Victor and his brother, save Rose's former teacher, Ms. Sonya Karp, figure out who the murderer and illigitemate bastard child are, kidnap said bastard child (Jill - shocker!), Rose kills Victor, feels guilty for all of 2 pages, leaves his mentally unstable brother all by himself, and rush brashly to Court to tell everyone about their shcking discovery. Meanwhile,Lissa passes all her tests, wins the love and support of everyone and writes an awesome speech. They tell the world, reveal all, murderer shoots Rose, but she survives, and severs the bond, and everything turns out right.

What annoyed me about this book:

Rose - Rose is the worst excuse for a person ever. I just don't understand how the other characters could like her, let alone the readers of these books. Rose is mean, she is selfish and hypocritical, she uses everyone and then kicks them to the curb once the are no longer needed. She riuns the lives of all the characters.
One example: Eddie. Rose convinced Eddie to break Victor out of jail in the previous book, leaving him with a black mark on his record. after Eddie kills a Moroi while protecting Lissa, she just leaves him, never even botherig to follow up on what happened to him, even though he most probably will be stuck with a desk job for the rest of his life. If killing that Moroi to protect Lissa was the only black mark on his record, they would have let it slide, but because of the brainless (and pointless) quest before, which was Rose's fault, Eddie is now screwed.
Second example: Jill, the illigitamate child. Do you think she would like to be thrust into Court life? No! She had a normal life, and now she is the center of unwanted attention. And, not to mention the akwardness with Lissa now. And Rose didn't even think about that. She just cared about helping Lissa. Bonus: If she gets Lissa to be Queen, she will now the that Queen's gaurdian! Whoopee for her, the ambitous bitch! And Sydney is now in trouble with the Alchemists because of Rose! Also, for someone so disgusted by the idea of blood whores (see book one) she sure is eager to be one, first with Dimitri, and then with Adrian! Lord, she is such a loser...

Rose's Treatment of Adrian - Oh God, this is going to be long! As an Adrian lover, I hated Rose, and I espesially hated this book. It was so horrible. As we already know, Rose is a user and an abuser. (Which is ironic considering her ragging on Adrian all the time for smoking and drinking.) In the 3rd book, she uses Adrian's affection for her to get money. In the 5th book, she uses Adrian as a rebound guy, occaisonally using the power of his name to get her into places that she would never get into. And when she ditches him and he breaks up with her (good man!) she fakes an apology and gets right back where she was. In this book, she is openly cheating on Adrian with Dimitri! But it's not really cheating, is it Rose? Because Rose has already broken up with Adrian and everyone already knows about it. Except, you know, Adrian. And everyone else. And right after screwing around with Dimitri, she falls into an Adrian-induced dream, and she doen't tell him that she's whoring around with Dimitri because: "We might still need his help." How mean is that??? Afterward, she gets caught making out this her beloved by Adrian, thus destroying his life. And when he comes in to talk about it, rightly pissed, she calls him out on his "dependence on her" and "using her like a crutch" and and all sort of bullshit like that. Bright side: Adrian calls her out on being a life-ruining, traitorous, heartless bitch-whore, so it's all good. And Rose never ever saw Adrian again. Poor Adrian... Rose doesn't deserve him!

I never liked Dimitri... Dimitri is a total jackhole. Honestly. He is like Edward Cullen with a Russian accent. After Rose runs away, (which, admittedly a stupid-ass idea), he ATTACKS HER!!! He's controlling, and tells Rose what to do all the time. Although, that may have stemmed from the fact that he was her TEACHER!!! Which brings me to another point: When Rose and him met in the first book, HE WAS A PEDOPHILE!!! That is ILLIGAL!!! He was just a dirty old man and she was a slutty school girl. Dimitri tells Rose that he would never, ever steal another man's gilfriend. Then, he tells Rose that he loves her and that her hair is pretty. Oh, and then he sleeps with her. Two issues with this:
1) What a way to encourage her! That's not playing fair!
2) What is with your obssesion with hair??? Honestly!!! Do you dream about it at night or something??? Geez!
Dimitri can go die in a hole.

Another thing... Where was Christian during this whole thing, besides on Lissa's arm? He had about one line of dialouge. Mead has ditched Christian and others for new characters like Sydney.
And the Belikovs? Oh soo important.. and then.. nothing. Drop-kicked right out of the series. Dimitri didn't even visit them, so the all still think he's a Strigoi, and therefore, dead to them. Real nice son, you've got there, Mrs. Belikova! Still think he's so wonderful and angelic now?
And the Keepers... she just pulled that out of her ass, didn't she? That was just filler, like everthing else that doesn't have anything to do with Dimitri. It was never followed up on, never expanded upon, it was just there. She never used it at all. It was just a plot device to show how desireable and kick-ass Rose is. Waste of paper!!!
Also, what was with Tasha shooting Rose? All through the rest of the series, she is dependable and strong... and then she suddenly has a mental break and starts shooting at random??? WTF??? And the whole "She framed Rose to get to Dimitri" thing, how self absorbrd can you get? No, no everything in the univerese revolves around you, Rose! Get it through your thick skull!

All in all, this book was a waste of paper. Oh, and spoiler: ROSE ENDS UP WITH DIMITRI!!!!! As if you didn't already know! ( )

Rose knows that the clock is ticking. She knows the world of dead wants her back.
