Increasing success rates in higher education requires a new approach towards effective teaching and learning. Harnessing America's Wasted Talent provides tools to make this happen by highlighting the flaws in higher education, like using only the orthodox college model, preventing opportunity and wasting talent for many students. This reference explores Second Life, iTunes University, and Web 2.0 to capitalize on the capacity of every learner. In Idaho, far fewer students who graduate from high school apply for college than in other states. While there are likely regional explanations that explain some of this, there are likely many other reasons that are consistent with other regions of the country. From institutional attitude to early ideas that an advanced education is unobrtainable or undesirable, students in elementary school are often deciding that college won't be for them. This book takes a look at the reasons behind these decisions and ways of working through them - from the viewpoint that the job opportunities for students who complete college are greater than for those who don't.
