The book is filled with free verse poems then you come to one out of the whole book that rhymes. I liked that the poems were about ordinary things. such as umbrellas and ice cream. I noticed that James Stevenson uses the word "corn" in all his book titles, which doesn't make any sense in this book of poems. These poems by Stevenson are very humorous and practical. One of the poems that stood out to me is called, "When I raised my hand in class, It didn't mean I knew the answer. Far from it. I was hoping the answer might float by and I could catch it like a butterfly." This poem for example shocked me because I did not think it was going to end in this note. The pictures are as interesting as the poems so it is a wonderful pair as they complement each other. Grades K-3 should read this. ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu

The picture for this shows simply an open box of a dozen powdered sugar covered jelly filled donuts:
Why?
Why is it...
While other people
Are thinking about all kinds of
Important things...
I am thinking about
What it would be like
To jump barefoot
Into an open box
Of jelly doughnuts? ( )
