The Lightning Thief: The Graphic Novel (Percy Jackson and the Olympians,… (vuoden 2010 painos)

I liked how the graphic novel kept to the original storyline. It was a condensed version of the original and would be great for hesitant readers or fans of Percy Jackson. ( )

Very lackluster when compared to reading the novel version. A lot of parts were cut, obviously for length, but also information was left out (like having to say Maia to make the winged shoes work) it’s just kind of lightly implied that, that is how they work.
The story at the end felt rushed, it was just to much story to try and fit into one GN.
The art was also pretty bland and not eye catching at all.
Definitely would pick the novel over this graphic version ( )

Loved the storyline but felt that the graphic novel version left a lot to be desired. I’ll read the next book in regular novel form. ( )

Summary:
Percy Jackson learns he is half god, half human and joins a camp to keep him safe and train him. At the camp he is sent on a journey to retrieve Zeus's stolen lighting bolt from Hades. Along the way he faces many obstacles and forces against him. In the end Percy finds the bolt and returns it, preventing war among the gods.

Critique:
The novel takes us on a journey with Percy from the real world to the underworld, to the home of the Gods. This novel has a comic book like setting with great pictures that help set the scene and take us through his journey with him.

I expected much more from this graphic novel.
I straight out hated the illustration. The characters (especially Percy and Annabeth) were so ugly I can't even.

As for the story itself, it's like they took [b:The Lightning Thief|28187|The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #1)|Rick Riordan|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1400602609s/28187.jpg|3346751] and chopped a good part of it, then made a bad retelling of the rest.

The graphic novel itself isn't that bad, but since I've read and loved the book and have been in love with Mr. Riordan's books for a good while now, I was really disappointed by this. The only reason the rating isn't lower is because it's about Percy Jackson ( )
