Tämä arvostelu kirjoitettiin LibraryThingin Varhaisia arvostelijoita varten. Adequate introduction to pet ownership for teens and older children. Topics include cats, dogs, and more exotic animals. Illustrations are attractive, colourful, and entertaining. I would use the book to give a high level overview of pet ownership, but not for someone who knows they want a dog and are looking for tips specifically related to dogs. I don't think she particularly liked it (too childish), but it was all I could do to get this out of her:The book "Tails Tails: The Incredible Connection Between People and Their Pets", by Anne Love and Jane Drake, is a book discussing how a person can choose their perfect pet, and informtaion, such as history, about cats and dogs. In this book the exotic, birds, fish, reptiles, rodent, horse, parrots, dogs, and cats as pets are mentioned. Half of the book, however is about the cat or the dog; their sections explaining the cats and dogs' history, how to pick your cat or dog, and two real stories about the feline and canine. Tämä arvostelu kirjoitettiin LibraryThingin Varhaisia arvostelijoita varten. There were some interesting stories in Talking Tails: The Incredible Connection Between People and Their Pets, such as a long lost cat meeting up again with his family and information about cats and dogs as animals. My chief issue with the book is that short as it is and the way it is structured, I thought it was a picture book or a book geared toward young readers. However, much of the content of the stories was over the head of many young readers. I also wondered if the book was meant to be a coffee-table book, but it did not seem like it. So, in short, Talking Tails... feels like it has a little bit of an identity crisis because it is not clear what audience this book is for. The stories were well-written and interesting but some of that might get lost of the 'right' people are not reading this book. ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu

From the earliest beginnings, humans have shared their lives with animals. Jane Drake and Ann Love explore these intriguing ties that have been formed between owners and their pets. From fish and reptiles to rodents and horses, this is a useful and fascinating history that celebrates all creatures great and small. Drake and Love address Dog Lovers and Cat Lovers, and offer plenty of intriguing facts about animals. They also introduce unusual pets like Polly the parrot who lived to be 126 years old belting whiskey and biting gold miners. A must-have for animal lovers. Kirjastojen kuvailuja ei löytynyt. |

I was a little confused by this book. It is very cute and from the illustrations looks like a children's book. However, the info is not at a child's level. There is a lot of great info in the book along with fun facts about animals and cute anecdotes. ( )
