I consider this book more of a plaything for kids than just something to read. And it will really only make sense to them after seeing the movie. The book takes some of the key points of the movie and highlights them. So, I can see the young reader saying, "Oh yeah, I remember that."

The book is rather short as well, which is kind of a bummer. ( )

A truly enjoyable pop-up book, with a caveat; the "hotspot's" that are supposed to reveal an image when touched by a warm finger no longer work, dulled by age. Tim Burton's signature style is revealed throughout the 5 two page spreads, and the movable aspects are pretty simple but effective. My favorite pop-up is that of Halloween Town, it's delightfully dismal! ( )
