NCLA Review - Each chapter in this novel is written from a different Potluck Catering Club member’s point of view. In the midst of many of the crisis in the book, the whole team joins together to pray sincere meaningful prayers. The storyline, seemingly straight from TV’s Food Network Channel, has enough mystery and intrigue about each of the character’s lives that the reader will not want to put it down. As a Christian I felt uncomfortable with the authors’ choice of themed entertainment in the book’s mulitlevel Great Party Showdown competition. With the setting of the book being in New York, their choices centered on many Broadway Plays that are controversial for a believer in Jesus Christ. Their overuse of the word ‘sexy’ throughout the book was also disturbing. There is a section of recipes at the back of the book, and the authors have also published a companion cookbook. Rating: 2 —ARG I'll admit it: I'm hooked on reality shows; I watch home decorating shows, cooking shows, and even competition reality television programs. This book is about a show that I'd enjoy watching--a cooking competition for groups. Written in first-person narrative in the voice of each of the individual characters, helps the reader follow the chaotic adventures of a diverse group of ladies and a few chosen guys who by a mishap, involve themselves in a competitive television reality program. With the prize a million dollars, along with an iron-clad contract that they signed without bothering to read, the ladies are obligated to plug away in spite of romantic entanglements and a bit of a mystery. Who IS "B"? This is a fun book to read. Not only can I envision it on TV, but I'd sure phone in my vote for the Pot Luck Club to take the grand prize. The recipes for all thirty-six of the dishes used in the competition all included as well as a metric conversion guide. näyttää 4/4 ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu

A church group starts up a little catering business. The son of one of the members decides to enter the group of ladies into a catering competition.
So, picture a bunch of sweet little church ladies competing on reality tv. It's not meant to be funny, it just shows how strong their faith is despite all the challenges life throws at them.
I'll definitely read the next in the series at some point. ( )
