A nice finish to the series. Rachel, Salomon’s favorite, works very hard to start her clothier business in order to keep Eliezer at home in Troyes. He is fascinated by astronomy and it drives a wedge between them. Jews are also starting to lose their favored status due to social changes. Salomon’s tracts are going to be very important in saving Jewish culture and beliefs. ( )

As with the other two books in this series, a wonderful read. I learned so much about the life of women in the 11th century, Jewish women in particular. Life then was certainly not easy! ( )

story revolves around Rachel and her husband Elizer, who begins to study astronomy.

I think the first two books about Joheved and Miriam were so outstanding that Rachel didn't have a chance of shining, also. It seemed to labor from the middle to the end. Some of the sexual statements were pure Maggie Anton and have no basis in historical research, and I wonder why she used them. ( )

Take a journey to France in the eleventh century and witness the life of Rachel, Rashi's youngest daughter. Rashi is a Jewish scholar and he has made sure his three daughters are educated in the Talmud. Rashi has high hopes for favorite daughter Rachel. Rachel has married a worthy man who cherishes her and understands her calling in life. Rachel plans to follow in her fathers footsteps and become a scholar.

When a war breaks out, all thoughts and hopes must be put aside because survival becomes the most important goal. Rashi has a stroke and Rachel is determined to stay by his side even when her husband demands they flee to Spain. Decisions must be made even if it means hurting people you love. Will Rachel make the right choice and live happily ever after?

A beautiful story that will warm even the coldest of hearts. If you believe in the strength of family bonds, I think you would enjoy this book. ( )
