There are lots of pictures and sea animals in this book. The story takes place in the Arctic (the only place you will find narwhals) A young narwhal is born in July and journeys around the sea looking for food and frolicking with other narwhals. The author in a nice way tells that the narwhals are mammals and do have predators. Narwhals have to deal with polar bears and killer whales. However, they are friends of the Indians. The narwhals battle cold conditions just like all the animals in the arctic. The young narwhals adventure continues up until November when the cold really sets in. The narwhal chooses no other place to live but this wonder environment in the ice, despite its harsh conditions. A great book to have in a teachers classroom under science, marine animals or mammals. ( ) Great story for young students! A fine mix of information text and narrative styling. See my full review and teacher activities on Reading Rumpus näyttää 2/2 ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu

Narwhal stays close to land as he swims through the Arctic bay. Even with the protection of a long unicorn-like tooth protruding out of his upper jaw he is not safe from predators. Will Narwhal escape a pod of killer whales, polar bears and even ice drifts on his journey to his winter home in the sea? Kirjastojen kuvailuja ei löytynyt. |
