Contains: Jeremy's collection -- Jeremy Bean and the dust bunny -- Jeremy Bean's St. Patrick's Day. Recommended Ages: Gr. 1-2 Plot Summary: Book 1: In school, Jeremy's friend Max showed his seed collection. Ms. Tucker invited any student with a collection to bring their collection to school the next day. Jeremy doesn't have a collection. What should he collect? He walks and finds a stick, rock, and bug. All of them go into his pocket. But his friend Winnie already has a rock collection and his friend Luke already has a stick collection. The bug is gone. What should he collect? Maybe his Gramps will give him an idea! (He collects stories to tell his grandkids when he is a grandpa himself.) Book 2: Jeremy overheard his mom say "There are dust bunnies under the bed. I have to get after them." Jeremy has never seen a dust bunny before and he was excited about getting a new pet. First he made a home by putting leaves, grass, and water in a box. But the bunny never came out from under the bed. He couldn't see it when he looked under. Where was the dust bunny? He tried tricking it by saying loudly "I guess I'll leave the room" and by pretending to be a lamp, but still no bunny! That night, he has a dream that a giant dust bunny is threatening to eat beans. Jeremy Beans! What is the real story behind this bunny? Book 3: Jeremy's class is planning their St. Patrick's Day party. They decide on all sorts of green food to eat and all plan to wear green. So he doesn't forget, Jeremy puts on his green sweater before going to bed. But at night, he gets hot and takes it off. The next day, he realizes he forgot to put it back on. He has no green! The principal is walking towards him. He's scared and runs into a broom closet, but the principal brings him back to his office. Oh, no, is Jeremy in trouble for not wearing green? (They have a lovely conversation, and eventually Jeremy admits the problem. The principal is so nice, he lends his new friend Jeremy his green bow tie.) A school assignment to share collections prompts Jeremy Bean to become a collector of stories about himself, which he hopes he can share with his grandchildren as his Gramps has shared stories with him. This engaging transitional work is organized into three "books" that explore Jeremy's efforts to become a collector, his search for dust bunnies and his solution to the problem of a St. Patrick's Day costume.
