First story was terribly predictable, but the second was quite the page-turner, and the third had the most well-executed, understated plot-twist, so I give the book a happy 4 stars. ( )
not the best Abe book, but still pretty good. It follows 3 generations of mer people, going through the love and loss of each. It's a little slow in spots, but it does pick up. A little anti-climactic at the end, but at least it gets the message across, aka, the theme..."if you love something, let it go; if it comes back, (or chooses to stay) it is yours. If not, it was never meant to be." Or...A bird can only live in captivity if you give it the freedom to fly away. All in all, a decent book, but it is unlikely I'll ever read it again. I'll be trading this book off. ( )
