Once I had finished one story I had to read the next. Although some stories were set in Singapore, several were about Singaporeans living in the USA. Each was a little gem, both in style and content. I felt when I had read it that I had also learned a lot about the people of this small country. I bought this on a stop-over in Singapore. It should be marketed world-wide. I am sure it deserves a much wider audience. näyttää 2/2 ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu

Five million English-speaking Chinese, Indians and Malays live in Singapore today - an artificial port city created entirely by British traders in the 19th century. The Singapore-born, multi-lingual American writer Wena Poon describes herself and her fiction as an "accident of history." She charts the 21st century journey of Singaporeans as they settle in the cities of New York, Los Angeles, London, Perth and Toronto. In her vivid stories, Poon captures the true urban sophistication of New Asia and the journey of an eclectic people coming to terms with their cultural legacy. Kirjastojen kuvailuja ei löytynyt. |
