Really good and emotional time-travel romance.

SPOILERS--During some fashion shoots photographer Sarah Rhinehart becomes aware of an old man watching her continuously in the crowd. Becoming nervous she has a guard go see what he wants. The old man doesn't want to meet her this way so he runs. Tragedy strikes when he runs into the street and gets hit by a car and dies. Full of remorse and strangely compelled to do so, Sarah wants to find out more about this man. After going to his funeral his landlady gives her some of his belongings that are in a box. She finds out his name, Marcus Stephens, a retired doctor that worked in a MASH unit during the Korean war, and finds out he used to live in her house. She finds old photos of a young Marcus with a woman that looks like her. She also finds an antique camera in her attic. While playing around with the camera, taking pictures, she finds herself transported back in time to the 1950's, to his house, the same house she is now living in in the 1990's. I had a hard time putting this book down. This was no funny, lighthearted time-travel romance, it was more serious in tone. Sarah and Marcus really did seem to be a meant-to-be couple who were trying their hardest to somehow, against the odds, be together. It was a beautiful and moving read. ( )
